The kumquat tree is a species of citrus tree, belonging to the woody plant whose scientific name is Fortunella japonica. The fruit has a sweet and sour taste, contains a lot of vitamin C, can be used to make very cool drinks, to make jams, to process food or to make delicious dipping sauces. In oriental medicine, kumquat is also involved in many remedies for diseases such as colds, coughs, etc.

Choose a pot to plant octopus
Based on the size of the tree you want to plant to choose the right pot size. Usually the pot needs to be 25% larger than the root of the octopus plant. The pot has the right width and depth to ensure growth space for the roots.

Choose land to plant octopus
Soil for kumquats is a loose, loose soil, mixed with humus and fertilizers (microbiological and chemical fertilizers) in a small amount. The soil must be kept moist and well-ventilated. The pH of the soil for growing kumquats is in the range of 5 – 6.

Choose the same tree
Can be grown by sowing seeds or cuttings. Should choose the method of branching because the success rate is higher, the tree grows better and bears fruit faster. If you are not a professional, you can buy pre-seeded and pre-extracted seedlings from home gardens to plant in pots and take care of.

Sprinklers
The tree needs to be watered with the right amount. It is recommended to water early in the morning and water the whole leaves, both to help the leaves clean the dirt on the surface, and to help the plant to photosynthesize well. Light
As a medium-light-loving plant, octopus can be placed both indoors and out in the garden. Avoid placing in dimly lit places or in direct sunlight for too long. If there is not enough light, the plant is susceptible to diseases and does not thrive. On the contrary, if there is too much intense sunlight, the leaves will easily wither and burn. If you grow indoor plants, you should put the tree on the balcony, next to the window or door to help the plant absorb the most light.

Steps to plant and care for kumquat trees properly

Step 1: Put the octopus in the pot neatly so that the plant grows exactly the way that the grower wants.
Step 2: Put the soil in the pot, fill it and evenly around the base of the tree. Do not expose the roots to the ground because watering will cause the roots to emerge even more, causing the roots to wither over time. Compress the soil tightly to fix the tree and help the tree to be stable and not shake.
Step 3: Place the tree in the desired location and the light where the plant is placed needs to be just enough, not too harsh, not too shady. Planting octopus in pots can be placed indoors (living room, office, next to windows, doors) or outdoors (garden, balcony …)
Step 4: Water the plants with clean water (should water rivers, natural lakes) and do not water too much. Use a spray bottle to water and when watering should water the whole leaves, thus helping the plant receive water more evenly and stably.
Step 5: Fertilize the tree after 1 week and at the right rate so that the plant receives enough nutrients, more roots grow and the plant grows better.
Step 6: Prune the tree regularly to create a beautiful shape for the tree, remove the yellowed leaves
For potted plants, a soil change should be performed every 2 years. This is the time when the old soil has run out of nutrients, even if it is fertilized, it will not convert the nutrients and the plants cannot absorb as much as the new soil.
